Best Acupuncture Midtown NYC

Experience the healing power of acupuncture in a beautiful, calm and zen setting at our wellness studio.  Our wellness oasis in Midtown, Manhattan is a center where multiple healers have come to work together in harmony for the benefits of our patients. Our patients are free to come strictly for acupuncture but many have found that the combination between alignment work though chiropractic care, therapeutic massage, movement training and acupuncture is a recipe that transforms health.  Our healers believe in collaboration and we find that the more we all work together, the more we magnify our ability to heal and serve our patients.

Acupuncture and Chiropractic- two healing practices in perfect synergy with one another.

Both fields focus on treating the person in a holistic way and working to identify the root cause of the problem rather than just masking the symptoms.  The methods are different as chiropractic is more about addressing the mechanics of the body and acupuncture is more about releasing energetic blockages.  When you combine the two together, we have observed an exponentially upgraded healing experience.

About Lee Schwalb

Lee Schwalb is a Licensed Acupuncturist, herbalist and medical intuitive with over twenty years of clinical experience. Lee received his clinical training and received his Master of Science degree at the New York College where he studied with some of the top clinicians in the world.

He incorporates acupuncture, herbal medicine, breathwork and meditation to assist his patients on the path to self healing.

"My initial experience with acupuncture was life changing. I suffered with depression for as long as I could remember and after my first treatment I felt a profound and immediate shift. I knew I had discovered a tremendously powerful modality and I couldn’t wait to share it with the world!  I specialize in helping patients understand the connection between their emotional body and their physical body. When these two are balanced and in harmony, health and well-being are the result.

Several years ago I was called to dive deeper into my path as a healer. I decided to travel to the Amazon jungle of Peru to partake in an ancient healing ritual using plant medicines. Shamans have used this plant for centuries as a tool for self healing and to help raise the consciousness of humans. I came back from that experience a different person and gained a new perspective on health and healing."

Frequently asked questions

How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well being. National Institutes of Health (NIH) studies have shown that acupuncture is an effective treatment alone or in combination with conventional therapies.
What conditions does acupuncture treat?
Acupuncture helps treat the following:
Headaches
Menstrual cramps
Tennis elbow
Fibromyalgia
Myofascial pain
Osteoarthritis
Low back pain
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Asthma
Stroke rehabilitationNausea caused by cancer chemotherapy
Dental pain after surgery
Addiction
What does acupuncture feel like?
Acupuncture is done using hair-thin needles.  Most people report feeling minimal discomfort as the needle is inserted. Needles may be heated during the treatment or mild electric current may be applied to them. Some people report acupuncture makes them feel energized. Others say they feel more relaxed and calm. It's important to note that most people find acupuncture an incredibly relaxing and stress-relieving experience and certainly not a painful one!
What should I expect on my first visit?
The acupuncturist will ask about your medical history and symptoms. They will also do an exam similar to what you would experience in a doctor visit. In addition, they may look at your tongue. This is a way for them to find any signs of imbalance in your body. After the assessment, treatment options will be discussed as well as pricing and any questions about insurance coverage. Most of our patients opt to get treated on their first session but that is always up to you!
Can I receive acupuncture while pregnant?
Acupuncture is safe and beneficial for all stages of pregnancy. Pregnant people have to avoid many medications, including over-the-counter drugs used to relieve pain. If you're experiencing pregnancy-related pain, acupuncture can help relieve your symptoms without resorting to medications that may cause harm.
Does my insurance cover acupuncture?
We accept most out of network insurance plans.
How many sessions of acupuncture will I need to see results?
Your acupuncturist will always recommend a course of treatment. This is your “dose” of the medicine (acupuncture) that will get you the best results. A typical course of treatments is around 10-20 sessions for adults and 6-12 sessions for children.

There are a variety of factors that will determine what would be best for you, such as the severity of the condition you are coming in for and how long you have had said condition. In general, the more severe your condition, the more acupuncture you will want to get in a short period of time. Less severe conditions generally require fewer acupuncture treatments to get relief. Also, the more acute something is, the shorter it is to resolve it and the more chronic something is, the longer it takes to resolve it.

The effects of acupuncture treatments build upon themselves, so it is especially important in the beginning to get treatments as close together as possible. Spacing your acupuncture treatments too far apart can hinder momentum and cause your condition to return back to where it originally was.

Typically, an acupuncturist will recommend 1-2 treatments per week for a couple of weeks to get the issue under control, and then once symptoms begin to resolve, you will come in less frequently, perhaps once a week or once every 2 weeks for a time as the issue continues to resolve. You do not need to get frequent treatment forever, just until the symptoms are under control, then you can taper off.
