You may think being injured or in pain means you shouldn’t move. But in most cases, it’s just the opposite. Our doctors are trained in therapeutic exercise and will only prescribe movements that are safe for your back and neck, and appropriate for your current pain level.
During your initial exam, we’ll identify your problem areas and devise a plan that includes exercises specifically designed for your needs. These exercises are prescribed to retrain your body so it can operate at its best—the way it’s meant to. They can also actually decrease your pain instead of aggravating it.
We’ll spend 30 minutes of one-on-one time training you to confidently master your corrective exercises so you’re comfortable continuing those practices on your own. We’ll give you clearly defined goals and instructions to implement at home, so you can build the consistency necessary to heal. Maintaining those goals will encourage your body to heal with velocity. That commitment is also essential to improving the health of your spine long term.
And, as you already know, exercise is also widely recommended for much more than your postural alignment: heart health, weight management, stress reduction, mood boosting, energy and overall vitality. So let’s get you started!
Your specific exercises are designed to correct the faulty movement patterns you’ve likely adopted over time, and that are likely at the source of your pain. Following your exercise regimen on your own is paramount to your short and long-term success.
Faulty movement patterns often result from a past trauma, injury, or repetitive strain that causes the body to adjust its movements to compensate for the injury. These movement patterns can remain long after the initial injury heals, leading to unanticipated problems in the future—and often in other areas of the body.
We can’t heal you without your help. Your commitment to your health isn’t a light suggestion—it’s essential to your intended results. Your exercises are meant to be done on their own for the long-term health of your spine and body. To truly give your body a chance to thrive, you must be as committed as we are to your own healing.
